Man and Van across Leicestershire.

A man and van service built around efficiency. We send a tail-lift Luton van on every booking — about 600 cubic feet of load space and a powered lift that takes heavy items up to the van bed without shoulder-lifts. That means we load faster than operators running Transit panel vans, and you're billed for fewer hours. Same-day available, no surcharge.

Why £49/hr is cheaper

Why £49/hr beats a £39/hr Transit van.

Transit-style panel vans hold around 350 cubic feet and have no tail lift. Heavy items get carried, often up steps. A Luton with a tail lift holds 600 cubic feet and lets us wheel heavy items straight onto the van bed. One trip instead of two. Half the lifting. Lower hourly bill.

Transit panel van competitor£39/hr × 4 hours = £156
Tail-lift Luton (1-Man)£49/hr × 2 hours = £98
You save£58 — and finish in half the time

Real numbers, not hype. Tail-lift Luton means fewer hours billed.

What we handle

Common jobs.

A tail-lift Luton handles the awkward stuff most cheap man-and-van services refuse — including American-style fridges and full white goods.

What we don't take

  • Pianos. Specialist piano movers handle these — proper trolleys, harnesses, and insurance designed for the risk.
  • Heavy gym equipment. Treadmills and multi-stations need specialist handling and dismantling we don't offer.
  • Hazardous goods. Paint, chemicals, gas cylinders — by law not in passenger or general transport vans.
  • Live animals. Specialist pet transport companies are better placed.
  • Live plants over 1.5m. Anything that won't fit upright through a doorway.
Same-day available

Booked today, often delivered today.

Most same-day jobs happen if you call before 11am. Booking before 9am for same-morning slots is safest. No same-day surcharge — the rate is the rate.

Tip: phone or WhatsApp for same-day. Form replies happen within the working day, but for same-day we need to know now.

Man and Van questions

Things people ask about hourly man-and-van work.

How much does a man and van cost?
Our 1-Man rate is £49 per hour. 2-Man is £79 per hour. Both have a two-hour minimum, so the lowest possible spend is £98. Mileage on longer runs is quoted on the call. The price we give you is the price you pay — no surprises.
Why is your hourly rate higher than some competitors?
Two reasons. First, every job goes on a tail-lift Luton van, not a Transit panel van — our load capacity is roughly 1.7× a Transit, which means one trip instead of two. Second, the tail lift means heavy items go up by lift, not by shoulder. We load faster, so you're billed for fewer hours overall. £49/hr × 2 hours often comes in cheaper than £39/hr × 4 hours.
What size is the van?
Mercedes Sprinter Luton body — about 600 cubic feet of load space. Roughly the contents of a 1-bed flat in one trip. About 1.7× the capacity of a standard Transit panel van.
Do you have a tail lift?
Yes — every man and van booking goes on a tail-lift Luton, no exceptions. The lift takes heavy items (washing machines, fridges, American-style fridges, sofas) up to the van bed without shoulder-lifting. Lower damage risk, faster loading.
What's the difference between 1-Man and 2-Man?
1-Man at £49/hr means the driver loads, drives, and helps lift — but you're expected to be the second pair of hands. 2-Man at £79/hr means two of us do all the lifting; you don't have to help. If you're moving a sofa or anything heavy through stairs, 2-Man is the right call.
Is there a minimum charge?
Two hours, regardless of job size. So £98 minimum on 1-Man, £158 minimum on 2-Man. Even a quick single-item collection is two hours billed. Most jobs run longer than that anyway.
Can you do same-day?
Yes — same day is available with no surcharge. Most same-day bookings happen if you call before 11am. Booking before 9am for same-morning slots is safest. Call us, don't email — form replies aren't real-time.
Do you charge for mileage?
On Leicester city and immediate suburbs, mileage is included. For longer runs (cross-county, out-of-county) we quote mileage on the call. Tell us pickup and drop-off and we'll be straight with you.
Are you insured?
Yes. Goods-in-transit cover up to £10,000 by default, public liability £5 million. Both apply to man and van jobs in full.
Do I need to help with a 1-Man booking?
Yes — the 1-Man rate is built around you (or a friend or family member) being the second pair of hands. The driver helps lift and does the carrying-and-loading sequence, but two-person items need two people. If you can't help, book 2-Man instead.
Can you take a piano or treadmill?
No — pianos and heavy gym equipment need specialist movers with proper trolleys, harnesses, and insurance designed for the risk. We can recommend specialists in Leicester.
What if my job runs over 2 hours?
Billed by the hour after the 2-hour minimum, in 30-minute increments. We tell you when we hit the 2-hour mark and let you decide whether to continue. No surprises on the final bill.
